What God truly means when He asks us to help others
Dear Beautiful Soul,
Helping others is one of the greatest expressions of love we can offer in this world.
But sometimes, people misunderstand what God truly means when He asks us to help one another.
Helping others does not mean losing ourselves.
It does not mean carrying everyone’s burdens alone.
And it does not mean sacrificing our peace, health, or dignity until nothing remains of us.
In the eyes of God, helping others begins with love, compassion, and sincere intention.
It is about being present for one another.
Offering kindness.
Encouraging hope.
Listening without judgment.
Sharing wisdom, comfort, support, or even a simple moment of understanding.
Sometimes helping someone looks very small from the outside.
A kind word.
A prayer.
A message.
A smile.
A moment of patience.
A reminder to someone that they are not alone.
And yet, those small acts can completely change the direction of another person’s day — or even their life.
God calls us to help others because we are all connected.
We were never meant to move through life completely isolated from one another.
Every human being carries struggles that are often invisible.
Pain we do not always see.
Battles we do not always understand.
And through compassion, we become instruments of healing, peace, and love in the lives of others.
But God also asks us to help wisely.
Helping someone should not mean enabling harm, dishonesty, or destructive behavior.
True love sometimes means compassion with boundaries.
Guidance with wisdom.
Support without self-destruction.
Because helping others should come from the heart — not from guilt, fear, or the need to feel worthy.
And perhaps one of the most beautiful truths is this:
When we genuinely help others with love, we are also transformed ourselves.
Our hearts soften.
Our perspective changes.
Our gratitude deepens.
We begin to understand that even the smallest acts of kindness carry divine power.
Today, I invite you to reflect gently on this question:
How can I bring a little more love, compassion, or light into someone’s life today?
You do not need to change the entire world overnight.
Sometimes God works through the simplest gestures.
And often, the people who need love the most are quietly hoping someone will simply see them, hear them, and remind them that they matter.
May your heart remain open.
May your kindness continue to grow.
And may you always remember that every act of love creates ripples far beyond what we can see.
With love & light,
Rev. Carmen Gélinas
