What authentic love looks like in the eyes of God

Dear Beautiful Soul,

So many people spend their lives searching for love.

Searching to feel chosen.
Seen.
Safe.
Accepted.
Understood.

And yet, so often what we call love is rooted in fear, control, attachment, insecurity, or the need to fill an emptiness within ourselves.

But authentic love — true love in the eyes of God — feels very different.

Authentic love does not seek to control.
It does not manipulate, diminish, or make someone feel small.

It does not ask us to betray ourselves in order to keep it.

Authentic love honors the soul.

It creates peace rather than confusion.
It brings truth rather than emotional games.
It allows growth instead of fear.
It supports freedom instead of possession.

God’s love teaches us that real love is patient, compassionate, forgiving, and deeply respectful of another person’s humanity.

It is not perfect because we are human beings learning through life.
But authentic love carries the intention to protect, uplift, nurture, and evolve together rather than wound each other repeatedly without awareness or responsibility.

And perhaps one of the most important truths is this:

Authentic love begins within ourselves.

When we do not believe we are worthy of love, we often accept relationships, friendships, or situations that continuously drain our spirit.

But when we reconnect with the love God has for us, something changes.

We begin to understand that we were never created to live in constant fear, emotional suffering, or self-abandonment.

We begin to choose differently.
Speak differently.
Love differently.

Authentic love does not require us to lose ourselves.

It invites us to become more fully who we truly are.

And sometimes, the greatest act of love is having the courage to walk away from what continuously disconnects us from peace, dignity, and truth.

Today, I invite you to reflect gently on this question:

Does the love in my life bring me closer to peace, truth, and the person God created me to be?

Not every answer arrives immediately.
But honesty with ourselves is often where healing begins.

You are worthy of authentic love.
Love that sees your heart.
Love that honors your soul.
Love that helps you grow rather than disappear.

And above all, never forget this:

God’s love for you has never been conditional.

With love & light,

Rev. Carmen Gélinas
