The quiet power of kindness

Dear Beautiful Soul,

Kindness is one of the simplest gifts we can offer another human being.

Yet it is also one of the most powerful.

In a world that often feels rushed, divided, and distracted, kindness has the ability to soften hearts, heal wounds, and remind people that they matter.

And that is why kindness is so important in the eyes of God.

God’s kindness is not reserved only for those who are perfect.

It is extended to all of us.

To those who are struggling.
To those who have made mistakes.
To those who are learning, growing, and finding their way.

Every day, we are recipients of God’s kindness in ways both large and small.

A new morning.
A second chance.
A lesson that helps us grow.
A friend who appears at the right moment.
A prayer answered when we least expect it.

And just as we receive kindness, we are also called to share it.

Not because others have earned it.

But because kindness reflects the love of God flowing through us.

Sometimes kindness looks extraordinary.

Helping someone through a difficult season.
Offering support to a person in need.
Giving generously of our time and resources.

But more often, kindness appears in the small moments.

A smile.
A word of encouragement.
A patient response.
A sincere compliment.
A listening ear.

These simple acts may seem insignificant, but we rarely know what another person is carrying.

The person standing in front of us may be fighting a battle we cannot see.

And our kindness may be exactly what they need that day.

Kindness is also something we must offer ourselves.

Many people speak to themselves more harshly than they would ever speak to someone they love.

Yet God never intended for us to live in constant self-judgment.

He invites us to extend the same compassion inward that we offer outward.

To forgive ourselves.
To encourage ourselves.
To treat ourselves with dignity and grace.

Today, I invite you to ask yourself:

How can I bring a little more kindness into the world today?

Not next week.
Not when life slows down.

Today.

Because every act of kindness creates a ripple.

And sometimes the smallest gesture becomes the very thing that changes someone’s day, restores their hope, or reminds them they are not alone.

May your words be gentle.
May your heart remain open.
And may God’s kindness continue to flow through you and into the lives of everyone you meet.

With love & light,

Rev. Carmen Gélinas
