What unconditional love truly means in the eyes of God

Dear Beautiful Soul,

Unconditional love is one of the most misunderstood concepts in the world.

Many people believe unconditional love means tolerating anything.
Enduring pain endlessly.
Sacrificing themselves completely for others.
Or remaining in situations that continuously wound their spirit.

But true unconditional love in the eyes of God is far more profound — and far healthier — than that.

God’s unconditional love is not control.
It is not manipulation.
It is not fear disguised as attachment.

It is pure acceptance of the soul.

It is the kind of love that sees our imperfections, our wounds, our mistakes, and our struggles… and still says:

“You are worthy of love.”
“You are worthy of grace.”
“You are worthy of compassion.”

God’s love does not disappear because we fall, fail, doubt, or lose our way.

It remains.

Quietly.
Patiently.
Constantly inviting us back to truth, healing, and alignment.

And perhaps that is what makes unconditional love so powerful.

It does not shame us into transformation.
It loves us gently enough that transformation becomes possible.

But it is also important to understand this:

Unconditional love does not mean abandoning ourselves.

In fact, authentic unconditional love includes truth, wisdom, and healthy boundaries.

God never intended for love to become self-destruction.

Real love honors dignity.
It honors emotional safety.
It honors growth.
It honors the sacredness of the soul.

Sometimes unconditional love means forgiving.
Sometimes it means staying.
And sometimes it means lovingly walking away from what continuously harms us while still wishing healing for the other person.

Because unconditional love is not about possession.
It is about seeing the divine humanity within another person — and within ourselves.

And perhaps the hardest person for many of us to love unconditionally is ourselves.

We judge ourselves harshly.
We replay old mistakes.
We believe we must earn worthiness through perfection.

But God’s love reminds us that we were already worthy before we proved anything.

Today, I invite you to sit quietly for a moment and reflect on this:

What would change in my life if I truly believed I was already worthy of love exactly as I am while still growing and evolving?

That question alone can begin healing places within us that have been waiting for compassion for a very long time.

May you allow yourself to receive love more deeply.
May you offer yourself more grace.
And may you always remember that God’s love for you has never depended on perfection.

It has always existed.

With love & light,

Rev. Carmen Gélinas
