The quiet freedom found in forgiveness
Dear Beautiful Soul,
Forgiveness is one of the most powerful — and often most difficult — acts we will ever experience in life.
Many people believe forgiveness is about excusing what happened.
Pretending the pain did not exist.
Or allowing someone to continue hurting us.
But true forgiveness is something much deeper than that.
Forgiveness is liberation.
It is the moment we decide that the pain of the past will no longer have complete control over our heart, our peace, or our future.
Holding on to anger, resentment, guilt, or bitterness can quietly become a heavy burden we carry every single day — sometimes without even realizing how much it affects our mind, body, spirit, and relationships.
And often, the person suffering the most from that weight is not the other person…
it is us.
Forgiveness does not mean we forget the lesson.
It does not mean we abandon healthy boundaries.
And it certainly does not mean what happened was acceptable.
It simply means we choose healing over remaining emotionally imprisoned by the past.
Sometimes forgiveness is directed toward someone else.
And sometimes, the person we most need to forgive is ourselves.
For the decisions we regret.
For the times we stayed too long.
For the moments we abandoned our own needs.
For the words we wish we could take back.
We are human.
We are learning.
We are growing through every experience life places before us.
And healing begins the moment we stop condemning ourselves for being imperfect.
Forgiveness is not always instant.
Sometimes it happens little by little.
Layer by layer.
Prayer by prayer.
Tear by tear.
But every step toward forgiveness creates more space within us for peace, love, clarity, and freedom.
Today, I invite you to gently ask yourself:
What pain am I still carrying that my soul is asking me to release?
You do not need to force the answer.
Simply begin with willingness.
Because even the smallest opening of the heart can begin a profound transformation.
May you find peace where there has been heaviness.
May you find softness where there has been pain.
And may you remember that your healing matters deeply.
With love & light,
Rev. Carmen Gélinas
