What self-respect truly means in the eyes of God

Dear Beautiful Soul,

Self-respect is one of the deepest forms of spiritual alignment.

Yet so many people were never taught what true self-respect actually looks like.

Instead, many learned to abandon themselves in order to be accepted.
To stay silent in order to keep the peace.
To give endlessly while neglecting their own emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

But in the eyes of God, self-respect is not selfishness.

It is honoring the life, soul, and dignity God placed within you.

It is recognizing that you were never created to live in constant emotional pain, fear, humiliation, or self-betrayal.

True self-respect begins when we understand our worth does not come from how much we sacrifice ourselves for others, how much we please people, or how much approval we receive from the outside world.

Our worth already exists because we were created by God with purpose, value, and love.

And when we truly begin to believe that our choices begin to change.

We stop speaking to ourselves with cruelty.
We stop allowing others to continuously disrespect our boundaries.
We stop settling for relationships or environments that disconnect us from peace, truth, and emotional safety.

Self-respect in the eyes of God means treating ourselves with the same compassion, patience, and dignity that God offers us every day.

It means listening to our intuition.
Honoring our emotional needs.
Protecting our inner peace.
And making decisions that align with truth rather than fear.

Sometimes self-respect means saying no.
Sometimes it means walking away.
Sometimes it means finally forgiving ourselves for all the years we forgot our own value.

And often, the most difficult part is realizing this:

We cannot expect others to honor us if we continuously abandon ourselves.

God’s love does not ask us to disappear for the comfort of others.

It asks us to live authentically, honestly, and in alignment with the truth of who we are.

Today, I invite you to reflect gently on this question:

Where in my life am I being asked to honor myself more deeply?

The answer may come quietly.
But your soul already knows.

You are worthy of kindness.
Worthy of peace.
Worthy of respect.
Not because you earned it…
but because your life has always carried divine value.

May you walk forward with greater confidence, wisdom, and compassion toward yourself.

And may you never forget that honoring yourself is also a way of honoring God’s creation within you.

With love & light,

Rev. Carmen Gélinas
